Ship Power and communication
Marine power cables are used for power transmission, lighting and control on river and sea vessels as well as offshore oil platforms, ensuring energy supply for offshore operations.
The island is connected to the mainland
Submarine cables also undertake the connection of power and communication between the mainland, islands and the banks of rivers. For instance, the China-Japan submarine cable once connected Shanghai and Japan, enabling cross-border communication.
Military and industrial uses
The US military enables remote command of unmanned aircraft through submarine cables, while power cables are used to supply power to offshore drilling platforms.
Shallow-sea cables, being close to the coast, have relatively lower laying difficulty, but they still need to deal with problems such as seawater corrosion and damage from Marine life.
